In the second match on the opening day of the World Cup 2010 it will be the turn of Uruguay to take on France in Cape Town.

Going into the tournament it is Uruguay who have had the better run of form with France well under-performing in qualifying and recent friendly matches.

Just a week ago France lost 1-0 to China so they will have to improve against Uruguay if they are to get off to a good start this World Cup.

In attack Uruguay are very dangerous with Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez up front so France will have to make special preparations for them.

With their recent form not looking like getting better any time soon i can't see France winning this and i fancy Uruguay to turn a few heads this World Cup.

Well folks, the World Cup is finally here and it is the hosts South Africa who kick it all off against Mexico at Soccer City in Johannesburg.

South Africa have been tagged as the underdogs but Mexico will still have their work cut out as South Africa are currently on a 12 match unbeaten run.

If South Africa can get off to a good start against Mexico and not concede early on then they will have a fantastic chance of claiming an invaluable win in the opening game.

This is a decent attacking Mexico side however so South Africa will have to be alert at the back if they are to keep Mexico at bay for the full 90 minutes.

I always want the host nation to do well at the World Cup so i am cheering on South Africa to win this one but my head tells that Mexico will probably pip them to the three points.

South Africa 2010 : Group of Death : Group G

Every four years when the World Cup comes along there is always one group that gets labelled as "The Group of Death". At South Africa 2010 the group deemed hardest of all is Group G which includes Brazil, Portugal, Ivory Coast and North Korea.

Brazil are of course the most successful team in World Cup history so any side thrown into the same group as them are already facing an uphill battle. However, when you place Portugal who have the likes of Cristano Ronaldo in alongside them and the Ivory Coast with powerful striker Didier Drogba in their ranks then you have your ultimate "Group of Death".
